History

The company was formed by the merger of Siebe plc and BTR plc in 1999.[2] From 1999 to 2004, Invensys underwent a major restructuring programme to cut its costs as falling sales and large debts had led to the danger of the company going bankrupt. A major disposal programme, combined with a £2.7bn debt restructuring in 2004 saved the company from collapse.[3] During that time Invensys bought[4] and sold The Baan Corporation.[5]

In March 2011, Wayne Edmunds, who had been the company's Chief Financial Officer since 2009, was appointed Chief Executive, replacing Ulf Henriksson.[6][7] According to The Financial Times, Henriksson, who had been the company's Chief Executive since 2005, had had differences with chairman Nigel Rudd over running the company, differences in spite of the company's return to financial health under Henriksson.[7]
